The Clearwater Threshers third baseman Welinson Baez was reassigned to extended spring training earlier this week. The Phillies organization has apparantly decided that because he has struggled with hitting for the last several years that they are going to give him a shot at pitching. When Welinson was originally signed work was that he was a possible two-way player, and I guess the Phillies are now about to find out.
Best of luck to Welinson. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to see him again in the future, but next time on the mound instead of at the plate.
