This Week In Recent Threshers History

Well. The Clearwater Threshers were not able to play a lot of ball this past week with three rain outs, a day off, and in the only three games they did play they were swept by the last place Tampa Yankees to put them 7.5 games back, but still in second place in the Florida State League Northern Division.

The Tampa Yankees and Clearwater Threshers concluded their series on Sunday afternoon with the Yankees concluding their sweep of the sharks. Things looked good for the Threshers most of the game with their offense looking lively for the first time in the series.

Rain Rain Go Away Already!

Well, sorry for the lack of Threshers coverage this week, but…

Thanks to Mother Nature there has been absolutely nothing to cover. The team has been rained out for four consecutive games, and rain continues in the forecast for the forseeable future. The team has a three-game set with the Tampa Yankees scheduled for the weekend, but the Steinbrenner Field is not known for draining water very quickly, so it is quite possible that the rain out streak could reach seven games.

Chance Chapman Promoted to Reading.

Congratulations to Threshers pitcher Chance Chapman on being promoted to AA Reading today. Chance has had two terrific years in the Phillies minor league system in 2007 & 2008. So far in 2009 with the Threshers he had boasted a 0.77 ERA and is well deserving of this promotion!

Congratualtions again Chance! We’ll miss you in Clearwater.
