Rays Nix Threshers Pat Burrell Bobblehead

June 11, 2009 · 3 Comments

UPDATE: WOW! I first broke this story on Thursday night, and it has really taken off. All of the local media outlets have picked up on it, and so has the Associated Press. I’ve seen the articled cloned on at least a dozen other websites, and seen it referenced on many others. Thanks for spreading the word people. BOO RAYS!

IN OTHER NEWS: The Tampa Bay Rays have appearantly chosen to execute a rarely used agreement between Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball that allows any MLB club to prohibit a minor league franchise within 60 miles of their club to give away bobblehead dolls at any game (plus other prohibited promotional activities).

On Friday the Threshers are scheduled to give away a Pat Burrell bobblehead as part of a Friday night bobblehead series which has already included Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins on two previous Friday night games. The Threshers’ intention was to give away a bobblehead of every starting player in the Phillies 2008 World Series lineup.

New Interviews With Threshers Manager Razor Shines

July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Several game recaps and interviews to choose from. Try the 7/14 interview, and check out a few others if you care.

I’m just trying to find some way…ANY WAY…to keep myself interested in the rest of this Threshers season. Now that it is official and I know for sure that Razor already hates me anyway, I guess there is no reason to expect that will change over the last 17 home games. He’ll probably hate me more if he ever sees one of these interviews (if he hasn’t already). Though he may enjoy the 7/14 interview.

CNBC Minor League Logos Contest

March 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This is semi-off-topic, but I thought I’d post it anyway for grins.  CNBC is having a March Madness style tourny to select the best logo in minor league baseball.  In today’s brackets voting three of the Philllies minor league teams are in the running.  The Clearwater Threshers face the Modesto Nuts, the Williamsport Croscutters face the Quad City Riverbandits, and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs face the Gary Southshore Railcats.

Click here to view the site and place your votes for the best logos.

The Jason Donald Interview

March 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Jason Donald during Spring Training and ask him a few baseball questions.

Jason, you started 2007 in Lakewood before finishing in Clearwater. What were the biggest differences between low-A and high-A baseball?

I think the biggest difference between high A and Low A was as with any level you move up, the game is a little bit sharper and quicker. Plus, there are some older pitchers with more experience that know how to pitch a little bit more. Better off speed and they can use that effectively when they were behind in the count.
