One thing I know is that kid’s like it when you play tricks on them. For example, I was going to take my nephew to see a baseball game, but instead I drove to an old burned down warehouse.
“Oh No!” I exclaimed, “it looks like the ballpark burned down. I bet all of the players are dead.”
On the way home he cried and he cried, but deep down I’m pretty sure he thought it was a good joke.

UPDATE: WOW! I first broke this story on Thursday night, and it has really taken off. All of the local media outlets have picked up on it, and so has the Associated Press. I’ve seen the articled cloned on at least a dozen other websites, and seen it referenced on many others. Thanks for spreading the word people. BOO RAYS!
IN OTHER NEWS: The Tampa Bay Rays have appearantly chosen to execute a rarely used agreement between Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball that allows any MLB club to prohibit a minor league franchise within 60 miles of their club to give away bobblehead dolls at any game (plus other prohibited promotional activities).
On Friday the Threshers are scheduled to give away a Pat Burrell bobblehead as part of a Friday night bobblehead series which has already included Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins on two previous Friday night games. The Threshers’ intention was to give away a bobblehead of every starting player in the Phillies 2008 World Series lineup.

MAN ON THE STREET POLL
After an offensive battle that saw the Threshers enter the ninth inning with a commanding 10-7 lead the Threshers apparently choked on a huge chunk of Tiger meat as they fell 11-10 in the end.

SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-DAY
The Clearwater Threshers downed the second place Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and came out on Thursday looking for the series sweep.
It didn’t take the team long to go on top thanks to a two-run HR from Tuffy Gosewisch in the second inning that put the team on the board early. Lakeland would answer with a run in the third to cut their deficit in half, but the Threshers picked up a run in the fourth to regain a two run advantage when Fidel Hernandez picked up an RBI to score Kevin Mahar for his second run of the game. After four innings it was Threshers 3, Lakeland 1.
The Threshers who have suddenly become an offensive juggernaut were not yet done on the night. In the fifth inning the team took advantage of an error with two singles and a walk to plate two more runs and take a 5-1 advantage after 4 1/2 innings of play. Meanwhile Drew Naylor was taking care of business for the Threshers from the mound. Through six innings he had surrendered nine hits, but countered that with nine Ks to shut down the Flying Tigers’ hopes at every turn.
Did I mention that the offense has been on fire?
In the eighth inning the Threshers tacked on five more exploding out to a 10-1 lead. The Lakeland squad would get a mini-rally in the ninth picking up three off of reliever Be Pfinsgraff, but that was too little far too late as the Threshers reigned supreme in the end.
CLOSING NOTE:
Threshers bullpen pitcher Brian Schlitter was traded to the Chicago Cubs today by the Phillies & Quintin Berry extended his hitting streak to 24 games with his two hits in tonight’s game.
