I had said I was going to take the weekend off from writing, but the effort from Clay Harris tonight was so monumental that I could not let it pass without giving it at least a quick write up.
John Urick had a solid night going 3-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Adrian Cardenas had a terrific night as well going 2-4 with a triple an RBI and three runs scores. Clay Harris had a SPECTACULAR night however overshadowing those performances with a performance for the ages. Harris was more than solid at the plate going 3-3 on the night with 3 home runs, and 6 RBIs.
Clay has been on fire in his last eight games hitting .640 (16-25) over that span with 16 RBIs, and only one strikeout. To say that Clay was the winner of tonight’s Schmidt List Award does not even do the performance justice. I think I’m going to have to invent some completely new category of award, like perhaps the GOLDEN SCHMIDT AWARD OF MAGNIFICENCE to do justice to the performance.
In any event the Threshers easily cruised to a victory picking up 3 runs in the first inning on Adrian Cardenas’ RBI triple followed by the first of Clay’s home runs good enough to give the team a quick 3-0 advantage. Edgar Garcia picked up his eight win of the year with a solid six inning outing, and Brian Schlitter, Alex Concepcion and Bear Hill each added one inning from the bullpen and the Threshers cruised to victory.
