I went to check out the Phillies first game of the 2010 Grapefruit League on Thursday afternoon, and got to see quite a few familiar faces. Of course the Phillies were loaded with ex Threshers players including: Joe Savery, Drew Naylor, Dominic Brown, Freddy Galvis, Antonio Bastardo, Yohan Flande, Scott Matthieson, Tuffy Gosewich, Quintin Berry and many others who I probably didn’t get a chance to see in the bullpen.
It was a bit of a suprise though to see two ex Threshers players in the other dugout playing for the Yankess. Zack Segovia signed during the off season to a minor league contract with the Yanks and pitched one inning following CC Sabathia who had started the game, and the with the Yankees trailing 1-0 in the ninth inning Greg Golson came in off the bench to pinch run. Golson had been traded to the Yankees in late January after being designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers where he had been traded from Philadelphia in exchange for John Mayberry Jr. following the 2008 season. Golson eventually scored the tying run, and then the Yankees went ahead 2-1 before the Phillies were able to rally in the bottom of the ninth for a 3-2 victory.
